For a few steps or many miles,

come walk with us toward a nonviolent future!

Are you interested in walking?
Do you have QUESTIONS?
Fortunately, we have answers!

Why are we walking?
~ Our objective is to mobilize grassroots support for nuclear disarmament and abolition, towards a real solution at the UN 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review during May of 2010 at the United Nations in New York. We are pushing the UN, U.S. President Barack Obama and all countries of the world to deliver courageous leadership toward nuclear abolition, on behalf of the overwhelming majority of the world's people who want Earth to know "the peace of a world without nuclear weapons," in our lifetimes!

Why should you walk with us?
~ Walking (for any length) with a group of diverse, inspired peace activists is a powerful way to take action toward a non-violent future. We will be seen by thousands, and meet with many local youth, interfaith congregations, and concerned citizens in each city we visit. It can also be a profoundly inspiring experience for individual walkers. With each step an action and prayer for peace, we create conditions for deep inner healing and transformation that will help change our world!

How much walking per day?
~ On average, we’ll walk about 15 miles per day, or around 5 to 7 hours. The shortest day is 4 miles, from Philadelphia to Camden; the longest days will be close to 20 miles. If any walker needs to rest for his or her health and safety, our support vehicle will be available to provide rides.

Where will walkers sleep?
~ In each city, friendly local faith-based communities and peace leaders will host us at no cost. Walkers should be prepared to sleep on the floor if necessary, and to wake up early with the aim of walking by 8 or 9 am.

What will walkers eat?
~ 3 meals per day — Generally early light breakfast, picnic lunch on the road, and evening potluck dinner, plus power snacks during the walk. Walkers with special dietary needs should be prepared to bring or purchase their own food.

What else will walkers do?
~ Numerous times during the walk, we will hold rallies and events with the local communities we visit. Walkers will have many opportunities to give speeches, talk to the press, and participate in discussions about building our movement for peace and nuclear abolition. We will hand out flyers to people informing them of opportunities to get involved. And since it is spring, we will have seeds to plant along our route!

Will the walk have a support vehicle?
~ Yes — we’ll have a van with trailer and a dedicated driver supporting the walk.

What should walkers bring?
~ We are traveling lightly, but please bring along the following:
Needed: Comfortable Shoes, Clothing layers for rain or shine, Sleeping Bag, & Personal Toiletries.
Suggested: Visual signs, symbols, patches, flags or banners for Peace and Nuclear Abolition; a favorite Musical Instrument; an Open Heart and Lively Spirit.

Is there a fee to to join the walk?
~ Each participating walker is invited to voluntarily contribute $10 per day for food and gas expenses, or as much as you can afford. No one will ever be turned away from joining the walk due to lack of funds.

Can I join for just a segment of the walk?
~ Yes! For a few steps or many miles, please join our walk for as long as you are able!
